Job Description:
PVC machine operators are responsible for operating machinery used in the production of PVC products. They work in manufacturing facilities that produce PVC pipes, fittings, profiles, or other PVC-based products.
Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup: Set up and prepare PVC extrusion or molding machines for operation, including loading raw materials, adjusting machine settings, and installing molds or dies.
- Machine Operation: Operate PVC extrusion or molding machines according to established procedures and safety guidelines to produce PVC products with the desired specifications and quality standards.
- Monitoring Production: Monitor machine operation, including temperature, pressure, speed, and product dimensions, to ensure smooth operation and detect any deviations or abnormalities.
- Quality Control: Conduct quality checks on PVC products at regular intervals to ensure they meet quality standards, including dimensions, appearance, and strength.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot problems or malfunctions with the machinery, such as jams, leaks, or equipment failures, and take corrective action to minimize downtime.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on PVC machines, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts, to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
- Product Changeovers: Assist with product changeovers by adjusting machine settings, changing molds or dies, and purging the system to switch between different PVC products or specifications.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), following lockout/tagout procedures, and participating in safety training programs.
- Production Documentation: Maintain accurate production records, including machine logs, quality inspection reports, and production counts, to track productivity and identify areas for improvement.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with coworkers, supervisors, and quality control personnel to coordinate production schedules, resolve issues, and optimize production processes.
Requirements:
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of PVC extrusion or molding processes, machinery operation, and equipment maintenance procedures.
- Experience: Prior experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment, preferably working with PVC or similar materials, is often required.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Understanding of mechanical principles and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve machinery issues.
- Attention to Detail: Precision and attention to detail in operating machinery, conducting quality checks, and ensuring product specifications are met.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials, and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify and address issues with machinery or production processes.
