Summary:
A Waiter or Waitress is responsible for providing excellent customer service to guests in a restaurant, café, or other dining establishments. This role involves taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring guests have a pleasant dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service:
- Greet and seat guests in a friendly and welcoming manner.
- Present menus and provide detailed information when asked (e.g., about portions, ingredients, or potential food allergies).
- Taking Orders:
- Take accurate food and drink orders using an order slip or a handheld device.
- Communicate order details to the kitchen staff as needed.
- Answer questions about the menu and make recommendations when appropriate.
- Serving:
- Serve food and beverages promptly and courteously.
- Ensure the food is presented well and served at the correct temperature.
- Refill drinks and respond to additional requests or orders.
- Payment Processing:
- Provide guests with their bills and process payments using the establishment’s payment system.
- Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions accurately and securely.
- Table Maintenance:
- Check on guests regularly to ensure they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
- Clear tables and clean dining areas after guests have finished.
- Reset tables for the next guests.
- Coordination and Teamwork:
- Work closely with kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely and accurate service.
- Assist other waitstaff and perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor or manager.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Follow all health and safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area, service stations, and restrooms.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
