Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Hook Driver to join our team. The Hook Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of hook-lift containers, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries in accordance with company policies and procedures. This role is crucial to our operations, requiring a skilled driver with a strong commitment to safety and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Hook-Lift Trucks: Safely operate hook-lift trucks to transport containers to and from various locations, including construction sites, waste management facilities, and recycling centers.
- Load and Unload Containers: Securely attach and detach containers using hook-lift mechanisms, ensuring they are safely loaded for transport.
- Follow Routes and Schedules: Adhere to assigned routes and schedules, ensuring timely delivery and pickup of containers.
- Conduct Pre-Trip Inspections: Perform routine inspections of the vehicle and equipment, checking for any mechanical issues and ensuring the vehicle is in good working condition before each trip.
- Comply with Regulations: Follow all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to ensure safe and legal operation of the vehicle.
- Maintain Logbooks and Documentation: Accurately record hours of service, vehicle inspections, and other required documentation as per company and regulatory requirements.
- Provide Excellent Customer Service: Interact professionally with clients, addressing any concerns or questions they may have regarding the transport of their containers.
- Report Issues: Immediately report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or delays to the dispatcher or management.
- Assist with Maintenance: Help maintain the cleanliness and general upkeep of the vehicle and related equipment.
Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL): Class A or B, with a clean driving record.
- Experience: Proven experience operating hook-lift trucks or similar heavy vehicles.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with local traffic laws and regulations, as well as basic vehicle maintenance procedures.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physical tasks such as loading/unloading containers and conducting vehicle inspections.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on safety and the ability to follow detailed procedures.
- Communication Skills: Good verbal communication skills to interact with clients and team members.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during transport.
